Is anyone up?

I don't know if I've done the right thing. My dd is 13 months old and wakes a few times in the latter end of the night. I can only get her back to sleep with my boob.

Her routine now seems to include a wake up at 4am then sucking my boobs until 5am at which point she wants to get up for the day.

Dp and I are absolutely fucked. My right nipple has got got cuts on it. So at 4.15am today I'd had enough. I covered my boobs up and cuddled and rocked her. She dropped off to sleep but then woke again and was screaming.

My dp has taken over but I can still hear some crying. She's quite a determined little bugger.
I feel so fucking terrible doing this, in my mind I'd never have to do this. I fear we're going to have to do this every night now as we're not being consistent otherwise.

Can you try offering water in a bottle or sippy cup instead of boob in the night? Generally not as interesting so they give up waking for it (that's the plan anyway).

Btw 6am was our cut off - any waking before that time and ds would be put back to bed (unless ill of course). We did sleep training though, so he got the message pretty quickly.

Well she didn't go back to sleep so we're up now and she's yawning her head off.

As wretched as I felt when I first posted, I think the time is right to night wean. So the plan for tonight between 11 and 6 when she wakes is water, Nurafen and cuddling back to sleep.

I can't cope with this exhaustion much longer.

Ah poor little thing. Things which might help:

Give Nurofen with her evening meal as if you give it on an empty stomach it can irritate and make her more uncomfortable. Use calpol during the night if you need to as it's gentler.

If she is suffering with her teething then you might need to put off your plans for a short while. If she carries on crying after you pick her up for a cuddle then she genuinely needs you rather than just trying it on.

Get your dp to go to her in the night with the water, as she'll smell your milk and she'll want it even more.
