my two year old wont sleep

hello mums this is my first time on mumsnet, my two year old daughter wont sleep at night without 4-5 bottles of milk i tried changing her bottle and even tried only giving her one going to bed but she just crys constant at night but she is so easy going during the day. any comments welcome please help very tired

devin - do you mean you are up 4-5 times in the night, or that you have to give her 4-5 bottles of milk all in a row before she'll sleep? (Surely not possible to hold that much liquid in?)

the answer you probably don't want to hear (its hard in the short term but works better in the long term) is stop giving her the bottles and prepare for a while without sleep. Sorry.

Can you get her a new special big girls cup that she can use before she goes to bed (and have in her bedroom if necessary) but no refilling?

sorry my post sounded harsher than I meant it to.

Keep posting on how you're getting on. Just remember that the long term benefits will outweigh the short term ones. It'll be a hard slog but worth it when you get there.

devin ,i have the same problem with my 19 month old son, even tho he only wakes once or twice in the night for milk! let me know how u get on with your daughter. have thought about letting him cry it out but we live in a flat and i am concerned about the neighbours as when he starts i am sure the whole street can hear him!

How much milk does she drink on those 4-5 times per night? (Poor you, how hideous). If a lot, I would think maybe she's hungry? Does she eat well in the day? If not much, you could try offering water in the hopes she'll realise that's not as nice and decide not to bother in future.
