Baby won't settle

My baby girl is 3 weeks old and won't settle at all when I put her down. She's ok for 15 mins or so then grisles and cries, then when I go to pick her up she's asleep in mid air before I can even cuddle her, back down and the same again.... tried the tshirt thing, holding her hand, leaving her be for a while to whinge it out (but she just gets very upset), I've had 8 hours sleep in the past 3 days as she's constantly on me..... don't know what else to do

What are you putting her to sleep in? Our wee boy wouldn't sleep in his crib but we tried a Moses basket and it's been more successful.

She's still very little. Dd slept on me quite a lot to start with! Have you tried light swaddling(I know it's hot)?

My six week old is the same. She just wants to be held day or night all the time. We have had some success with a baby move cosy dream at night. I wait until she is sufficiently asleep and then gently lower her in. She will sleep for 2 or 3 two and a half hour stretches waking for feeds. Some nights are better, some much worse

Have you tried a dummy?

Bouncy chairs are useful for daytime sleep.

Swaddling helps for nighttime sleep.

I found a side-car full sized cot was most helpful at nights. It is big enough for me to cuddle into to help settle baby while she is lying in the cot, then withdraw myself once asleep. Also makes reaching over to settle (and reinsert dummy) easier and means scooting her into bed for a lying down breastfeed means I wouldn't even need to sit up.

She sleeps in a moses basket. Tried her crib too, same result xx

Thanks for all of your advice. Have tried swaddling but she just doesn't like it... think I have a strange baby ony hands as every other I know loves it. Think it's just a case of trying to ride it out x

My little boy is exactly the same. Coming up to 4 weeks old and just wont settle in his crib. It doesn't feel normal. He will only settle when he's on me.
Is this normal?

I ended up co-sleeping with DD on my chest, which meant I got sleep too. Definitely not what I had intended on.
Have you looked at the Sleepyhead? My DD wouldn't be swaddled at all and found the space of her crib too much. The Sleepyhead just makes things more confined for her. DD sleeps fine in her crib now, but I did have the Sleepyhead in the bed next to me for awhile as a co-sleeper first.

Carlstromans this is exactly what we have had. I thought it was that she wants to be picked up all of the time but spoke to the hv and she said that they are too young to attention seek atm and it could just be that she's unsure of her surroundings, even had it where she wouldn't go to dad and only me. Hv said this is normal as she's familiar wit my body. She said persevere and in next couple of weeks it will calm down.....

I'd never even heard of a sleepyhead. I might resort to buying one ifthings dont improve but I know it is still early days.
My baby was in special care for his first two weeks so know he wouldnt have got the attention that he does now when he gets upset. It's so tiring.
I'vefallen asleep a few times with him on me but Its not ideal. I may need to look into safe ways of doing this.
Have things improved for you?

It is tiring and she is getting better.... but not ideal, someone mentioned to me about sleepy head but they are very expensie , the person that told me had a babymoov one that was about 30 quid and she said it was just as good. I'm going to five it another week then if no change I'm going to try one x
