My 2nd bb was 9 weeks premature he is doing really well. But I don't know what i should be expecting, he is now 18weeks old but acts more like an 6 week old! Is this normal, what should I expect with sleep and feeding. There seems no advice/support anywhere

Mine were born @ 27 weeks

In NNU ITU and so were on regulated feeding sleeping times etc

but had corrected ages when came home just after EDD aged 3 months but really newborn

SO ime and imho yours will be like from its EDD for 1st year or 2

Now aged 11 years and is at top of class and is deffo brill

And is of average size if not taller than average

Did you find as a baby that he was later at sleeping through than other babies, and what about crawling, walking

Hi Kamanchiqueen - just to add -ime, I really think it helps to think of them as their EDD not their 'real' age - ds was only 5 weeks prem, so really nothing, but I tended to try & think of him as his EDD - and made a point of telling poeple that was his age when I felt I was getting 'why isn't he sitting/walking' etc stuff.
Ds was always a bit of a rubbish sleeper - but then dd is too & she was full term! ButI guess that, size-wise, his little tummy will be tinier that a "normal' 18week old, so that will effect the feed spacing/sleep time.

He came out of NNU on 4 hourly feeds and a regulated routine bexcause he had had to be on a very strict routine of feeds etc

And it didn't matter if he cried he was not allowed to have any milk earlier.

Yes we used to say he had 2 ages and basically didn't take any notice of what stupid comments we got from other people including HV

Because no one knew what having an extremely prem baby was like

He went back to hospital for regular checks on weight and development cos they knew what they were talking about

But he followed his EDD chart really quite closely

We joined a postnatal group that all had babies around his EDD and so they were developmentaly the same as him although they were 3 months younger

We have just come home from hearing him sing in a concert and he is deffo tall compared to the other 11 year olds
