Pretty bedding to fit a cot?

SallyMischievo · 02/05/2015 11:46

DD is soon to be moved from her bed nest to a standard sized cot and I am struggling to find nice bedding to fit - plenty available for cot beds but we have made the decision to go with a cot due to space limitations. Any recommendations would be ideal - I am in the market for flowery, bird or butterfly print sheets and a cot bumper. Many thanks and apologies for posting such a trivial request!

cot bumpers aren't recommended or required. will you be using blankets or a baby sleeping bag?

NerrSnerr · 02/05/2015 11:58

I would avoid cot bumpers due to safety concerns. We got some nice sheets from Mothercare but use a sleeping bag so have no more bedding.

We use sleeping bags. I wasn't sure about a bumper as I have heard conflicting advice. They seem be sold widely and Mothercare include them in their cot bedding bundles?

They are supposed to be removed when the baby is mobile and can get on their hands a knees as they can climb on them. They are not necessary at all

Thank you, Pixie. We won't bother with a bumper, DD is not mobile yet but it won't be too long!

If you are using a sleeping bag then you don't need any other bedding but a fitted bottom sheet.

For a sleeping bag, you can't beat the GroBag range (good second hand market on ebay)

DD is 17 months and the only bedding she has ever had is a fitted sheet (we use gro bags). We've got some spotty ones from Next.

I forgot to add:

With regards to fitted bottom sheets, a cotbed fitted sheet will also fit a standard size cot, because it is elasticated underneath. We have both a cotbed and also a standard sized cot and the fitted sheets fit on both. They are available to buy pretty much anywhere.

As the only bedding needed was fitted cot sheet and sleeping bags I wanted to get pretty sheets and found them from Vert baudet and la redoute. I have stripey ones, starred ones etc instead of just plain. Could only find cot bed sized ones everywhere else.

Oooh lovely, thank you, that's great - I will investigate!
