Does cc sometimes not work?

I've been reading all the posts about controlled crying etc. here and am a bit confused about it. I've read Richard Ferber as my 18 month old dd is having some sleep problems. I've been trying out cc but so far it doesn't seem to be working. Then I just read the interview with Gina Ford on this website and she says if it doesn't work after a couple of weeks it's not going to. Does anyone have any experience of this?

CC did not work for us dd now sleeps but it takes time and will happen naturally - just be very paicent (spelling is awful)We found not making a big fuss helped as did letting her fall asleep on settee rather than bed until she had learnt to go to sleep by herself( is there somewhere your dd likes to sleep)

CC didn't work for us. It was an awful experience, tbh. Each time, dd cried and screamed hysterically for three hours, vomiting and trembling, covered in sweat and snot and still didn't go to sleep. The following day she was pale, baggy-eyed, shaking, clingy and still sobbing even though she wasn't actually crying, iykwim. We went back to co-sleeping. I'd never do CC again.

That's interesting to read, thank you.

I don't know where dd might sleep except for in her bed where she's previously always slept. She does sleep in the pram but obviously not in this weather!

stick to bed then my dd felt better on settee becaus she used to be fed there and had sleeps there from when she was small. Hope you find your way to doing it all
