Hello everyone, just wanted a bit of advise, I let my four month old have an hours sleeps yesterday from 4 till 5 how ever this resulted in him being up then till 10 o'clock, he had his bath and bottle and was still wide awake, I put him in his cot for him to know that it was bed time & he just cried, a few months ago he use to sleep from half 7 till around 2/3 oclock in the morning have a bottle and go back to sleep till half 7, it seems the older he's getting the less sleep at night he wants, he doesn't have big sleeps during the day I would say an hour every 2/3 hours, I've tired keeping him awake but he getting very upset and distressed.
Thankyou in advance x

A hour every 2 to 3 hours is fine for a four month old. Actually something like 45 minutes every 2 hours is what I've always aimed for, but your daytime routine sounds fine too.

Bedtimes need not be set yet anyway. Its recommended the baby stays in the same room as you at all times anyway until 6 months. But not unusual that over the coming 2 months a natural bedtime will develop. Don't worry if you are not there yet though and bedtimes are erratic.

Don't try to keep baby awake when tired. More sleep promotes better sleep.
