Do dream feeds do anything?

Any advice anyone? Have always given 16 week old dd dream feed at about 10.30pm. She was going through on this until about 5.30 am.
However last 2 weeks has been waking at 3.00am and taking full 6 ounces. About hour and a half after this(5.30 am-obviously her favourite time of day, but not mine). She wakes up with terrible wind, and spends the next 2 hours trumping, farting, grunting and screaming, which as you can imagine is a very restful sleep aid to all concerned.
Dh has come to the conclusion that she is taking in too much at night which is causing the problems. He likened it to eating a 3 course meal at 3.00 am in morning, which would obviously give you indegestion.
He has suggested dropping dream feed so she doesn't feel so full. I am so sleep deprived cannot think clearly about anything....
Ds was going from 8-8 at 3 1/2 month old, with no dream feed. Does it actually do anything?

DD needed it... DS didn't, I decided to start one and he now wakes for that AND the other feeds.

Try dropping it, if it doesn't help/gets worse you can always reintroduce it.
