Problems settling 12 wk old in new cot

For the last week we've had our 12 wk old sleep in his new cot in our room. Before that he was in a co-sleeping crib which he outgrew. The first night in his cot he slept like a dream. Since then it's been awful settling him after night feeds. Funnily enough at bedtime he will go down in it & go to sleep with some comforting pick ups then put downs. But this technique doesn't work after his night feeds, when he's very wakeful & it's taking me hours to settle him & I'm resorting to just feeding him again until he drops off on the breast & trying again (tho I know feeding to sleep isn't recommended). The other change is that for just over two weeks he's had an earlier bedtime. He used to go to bed when I did at 10pm, but I realised this was too late so now he goes around 8pm. Grateful for any advice.

It may be that the cot is not the reason for the problems, just coincidence.

12 weeks is a big growth spurt and it is entirely reasonable to think baby might be still hungry and want more feeding in the night and this is the reason for not settling. I'd go for feeding much more often in the daytime and see how this affects your night time feeding.

If you like the co-sleeper idea, take ne side off the big cot and butt it up to your bed.
