4 month sleep regression. Does it effect all babies?

Hi ds has been sleeping through 9-10 hours for a while. He is now 4mo +1wk and 2 nights in a row, totally out of character he has taken ages to settle down at the start of the night ie having to resettle him every 15 mins for over 2 hours. Last night he woke up shouting at 4am, I bf him which usually sends him off but it was another 2 hours before he settled again!
So could this be a bad growth spurt? Teething? An illness? (he has been a bit snuffly) Or is it the dreaded 4mo sleep regression? Do all babies get this at 4mo?

I only have my NCT group to go on, but I think it hit us all to some degree or another. I'm afraid 4-5 months for is were worse than newborn stage Sad

And just when things were falling nicely into place!
Do you remember if your baby naturally went back to good sleeping or did u have to work at it?

Mine started doing this at about the same age. Don't know if it was growth spurt or sleep regression. Lasted for about 2 or 3 weeks then settled on her own with no effort at sleep training from me.

No not all are affected. DD did not have a single sleep regression ever (she is now 6) and DS had every flippin regression going. We seem to be over them now at 3 but he is always more prone to disturbances generally.

DS seems to be going through this at 4m +3. He has never slept through the night, but would generally wake without crying and settle very quickly after a quick bf and would only wake properly for the day at around 7am.

He's now waking for a feed at 1.30am (we dropped the dreamfeed because he woke at 1.30 regardless). And then again at around 3.30-4.00 but only for an hour. And he usually has to be held for that hour.

And bf to settle every time or he goes mental.

And then he's awake for the day - 4.30-5.30am - and cranky as hell with it!

We're not getting a stretch of more than 3 and a half hours sleep at any point. And I am dying on my feet during the day. He doesn't ever nap for longer than 50 minutes and rarely more than two naps in the day.

Hi, thanks for your replies.
He actually slept well last night, first time in over a week that he settled right after bf and then stayed asleep for 8 hours.
I wonder if he had a bug, or his teeth are bothering him, but chocciechip Hopefully your lo will have a normal night soon too.
