Screaming before daytime naps

My 5 and a half month old will not nap during the day without screaming for some time first (at night he goes off without any fuss at all). He's been getting steadily worse for a couple of months which is about the same time he's been showing signs of teething so I think the two might be linked. I've tried all the teething remedies and nothing helps (even calpol which I've given him on occasions when he's particularly bad). He also won't go in his cot during the day so I have to hold him when he does go off - which I can cope with but the crying is exhausting! He is definitely tired and needs the sleep so it's not that he's just an awake baby. Has anyone else experienced this and did anything help? I'm at the point where I avoid taking him anywhere when he's likely to get tired Sad

How often does he nap & how long do the naps last? Might help us figure out if he is overtired or not tired enough as both can cause the kind of screaming you describe.

Thanks dicko1. Glad to know I'm not alone!

Omama, he tend to have four half hour naps per day, although the early afternoon one can last 1-1.5 hours sometimes. These are set by him not me! I've tried getting to him earlier and leaving him a bit longer so I know I am getting to him at the optimum time. He just doesn't like to sleep during the day!
