I have a 7 week old, we have established a bedtime routine so he will be in bed by 7.30, wakes at 11.30 & 2.30 and then between 5-6. We are happy with thus but I'm struggling in the day.
Our little one stats away for hours, sometimes 4-6 hours at a time which means he gets really overtired and screams like crazy, it's then really difficult to get him to sleep for a nap. I'd like to get him in some sort of routine to stop this happening but I don't know where to start! Any ideas?

I used to time naps. So at 7wo ish I knew an hour after they woke, id be putting them down for a sleep. I didnt really look for signs of tiredness, just got to that 1 hour time limit and would swaddle and put down in a rocking crib/bouncer/pram and rock them to sleep. DS is now 22 weeks and I now time it two hours.

That night time sleep is really good!

It is a case of putting them down before they even really seem tired. I'm still trying to get it spot on.

Also my lo used to do a good 5-6 hours at a time at night but that changed to 45 minute sleeps :-( 12 week growth spurt related. And its now very gradually increasing again. Point being, what works now could very well not work next week.
