Bedtime routine for 2

I have a 5 year old and a new born. My 5 year old has been scared of the dark for the last 6 months and won't settle on his own. My partner is never home from work at bedtime so I have to settle my son, which hasn't been a problem in the past. However I now have the baby too and unless she's sleeping or feeding it's very difficult for him to settle with her in the room as well. I know the best solution would be for my 5 year old to settle on his own and that's the end game but I can't quite muster the energy to sleep train him whilst I've got such a young baby so for now I'm just looking for ideas of ways to make bedtime easier and quicker for my 5 year old without him being disturbed by the baby too much.

does he have a night light?

Have tried several different night lights, a cool batman lamp and even tried leaving the light on. I've found a great sleep training solution which basically involves leaving him and popping in every 5 minutes until he's asleep (that's the very short version of what it actually is!) but I can't implement that with the baby in tow as often I'll be feeding or settling her after he's gone to bed.
