My five month old has always been a pretty good sleeper. She goes to sleep in a grobag at the foot of the cot on her back. But since she has learnt to roll she does it in her sleep and can wake up 8-10 times a night stuck in all sorts of positions. I can leave her to cry as 1 i dont believe in it and 2 i worry she will hurt herself some of the positions shes in and 3 she hasnt yet learnt how to roll backGrin !
Has anybody else experienced this.

Yeah, it's a bummer when they get to that stage.

Two options really:

  • Ride it through until she can reliably roll front to back and back to front so that she can reposition herself in the night.
  • Pin her down with a tight blanket. But some babies would not tolerate this.

It gets worse once they are pulling themselves up to standing position and so will no longer stay lying down in the cot.

yeah i wouldnt trust her with a blanket i dont think. she has one for her afternoon nap but constantly pulls it over her face. little madame. I guess im riding it through some nights are not so bad some like last night are atrocious. thanks x

I came on here to post just this. since he learnt to roll, my lb likes to practice from about 4am. this morning he rolled to ewan the dream sheep, turned him on and was trying to eat him... he keeps getting stuck on front. I have tried him sleeping on side which works if he is really sleepy. otherwise it's not much fun, is it? and he had been sleeping through. all I ask for is one night Shock Shock Shock Shock Smile

nothing. I tried putting him on his side cos he likes that and I turn ewan on and he watches the light and then tries to eat/kiss ewan but that often leads to him rolling onto front.

mines decided to curl up in a ball on her side and touch wood is slightly better x
