4 month old early mornings...

My 4 month old has started waking at 5/5.30 am, full of the joys and not hungry.

Is this just a phase??

She goes to bed about 7 and will have 1-2 feeds during the night.

Just wondering, sometimes she's exhausted by 7 but I don't like putting her to bed earlier incase it means she wakes up even earlier than she is...but maybe if she's going to wake up at 5.30 regardless I should put her to bed earlier?

Thoughts?

Don't change her bedtime, you don't want to start restricting the amount of night time sleep. You want to lengthen it.

Treat the very early morning sleep like a night feed. Don't 'give in' and get her up for the day, otherwise this will become part of her natural body clock rhythm.

It may be that her nappy is full with two night feeds, so change her nappy and then feed her and settle her in the same way you would in the middle of the night.

I find a short time being swaddled, with dummy is a great way to calm and awake baby back to sleep.
