What should I do? My 8 mo ds has slept on his front for the last 2 nights, now tonight he woke up (about 10.30pm) so I went in and he rolled into his front...then went face down rather than head to the side . He obviously wasn't comfortable as he was moaning and moving around but kept settling at face down. I left him with his head ever so slightly to the side. He's always loved burying his face into things (eg. My boobs!) to sleep and in the last couple of months has been sleeping on his side.
I tried rolling him back but he just rolled onto his front again. Do I just trust that if he can roll himself he'll move if he can't breathe? Urgh - these babies Are very good at making us paranoid wrecks !!

I would leave him be and check on him often whilst awake, if he is rolling over, to me, he is finding his comfort position.

I'm an old Skool mum and my 3 are now all grown one still sleeps face down and bum in the air and she is a teen and another sleeps in the position she fell asleep in like a dead person Confused

My DD started sleeping on her face at around the same age and I know exactly how you feel! I tried turning her over but ahe always ended up face down again so I stopped trying to move her and just kept checking on her. She's now 11mo and still sleeps in her face, I still check on her and she always seems fine so I just try not to worry :)

I think once they can get themselves into and out of that position then it is fine. my ds slept on his.front as soon as he learnt to roll. I just leave him be.

I remember feeling exactly the same... At 19 months dd still sleeps on her tummy/face with her bottom in the air. I am just happy she sleeps Wink

thanks everyone - he survived the night! he loves falling asleep against my boob after feeding so i guess he's used to being snuggled in! eek.
