Hi
I have 3 months old (15 weeks) daugter. Every night at around 8pm she wakes up crying hysterically. Sometimes we can calm her down in 10-15 minutes sometimes it takes 30 - 45min. WHY???? She has a good bed routine in the day and in the evening. She sleeps enough in the day so she deffenitely isnt over tired. She falls asleep on her own while my husband reads her book, using dummy to selfsmoothe and she is out whithin 5 minutes. She has been suffering with wind from early days, can this be the reason? this is the only time of the day that she does it ( she has a feed in the middle of the night and goes back to sleep without a problem, and just in case you are wondering she doesnt take anything for wind as nothing was working.). We tried leaving the light on as we thought she may be getting scared, we checked that she isnt too hot. What can it be ? any ideas ?

My ds does something similar some nights. About 40 mins after falling asleep he wakes up. Sometimes hysterically. I think it is just the end of a sleep cycle and sometimes he can't get straight into the next bit of sleep and so he is annoyed! When he is hysterical I don't actually think he is fully awake so I Have to wake him up to calm him down. Generally though I stay somewhere nearby waiting for his wake up,ready toRush in, give him his dummy and shush him back to sleep, the he sleeps until his next feed is due. The quicker I get there the easier it is to soothe him.sorry not to be more help but I haven't identified a "real" trigger in 7 months!

At that age mine used to wake up crying after one sleep cycle sometimes because he hadn't burped properly after his milk, so it could be wind related. Whatever it is, it will probably resolve itself before long - she's still really little and still getting used to life in the outside world.
