I'm going to try to teach my 6 month old dd to self settle after being fed to sleep her whole life. My plan is to make her story after her feed. Put her in her cot with bedtime music we always use and sit next to her patting sighing and holding her hand. Does that sound ok? Any tips welcome'

In the same boat too ladies. My lo has been waking five to seven times a night and I'm starting sleep training at the end of the week as can't look after my baby to the best of my ability when i am so tired. Plus he is exhausted too and letting this go on is not fair on him. It's controversial but I have bought and read (some of) Dr ferber's book and even if his method is not the one you plan to use his chapter on sleep associations is very informative and makes a lot of sense - I would recommend getting it from the library and having a read of chapter 4 for interest.

How is everybody getting on?!

LouLouF · 13/02/2015 14:06

Things seem to be improving for me, but I don't want to jinx it! Haha! Naps are longer and sleep is better for first half of night then she's quite restless from 3am onwards , but she's not properly waking. It's only been a couple of days though....

What's made the difference loulouf?

LouLouF · 13/02/2015 20:32

I went out on Saturday night so dh was on babysitting duties and she's not been fussy for feeding to sleep since. He had a bit of a hard time with her and she cried for an hour, but eventually fell asleep after taking a dummy from him Shock
Have managed to get her to sleep by rocking, reducing the amount of rocking through the week and just cuddling last night and today... Although I've just put her to bed earlier and she wasn't having anything apart from the boob lol. Poor thing was screaming the place down (too late in bed tonight, my fault!). I've also started weaning her last wk so don't know if that's made a difference too?

Sounds like things are improving anyway so that's fab :-) keep it up! X
