Anyone tried 'wake to sleep'

Hello. Has anyone tried wake to sleep? Does it work?
My 15 month dd wakes anytime from 5 am and has been doing so for months and months and months.
It's driving me bonkers.
She has a black out blind, there is ni external noise as she has white noise playing, her room is nice and warm, I dont she's hungry as she eats ok, and so I think she's just got into a habit.
The idea is that you rouse them an hour before their usual wake up time, so in my case would be 4am (imagine setting your alarm for that time!) with the hope that you send them into new sleep cycle.
You don't fully waken them just a stir.
Obviously not for the faint hearted but I'm thinking about giving it a go and wondered if anyone had any success stories.

I've tried it for naps (younger baby). Either didn't work (obviously not roused enough) or she woke completely. It's probably worth a try. From what I understand from my extensive reading of infant sleep patterns is that early morning wakening is the hardest to break. Will she settle if she gets into bed with you?

No she thinks that would be getting up time! I'm going to be brave and give it a go. Thank you

I tried it. I roused her just enough that she stirred. Worked an absolute charm within 2 days.

dementedpixie · 16/01/2015 22:50

i did it with dd and it worked after a couple of days

dementedpixie · 16/01/2015 22:51

what is her bedtime and what are her naptimes?

Chickz · 17/01/2015 07:39

Her bedtime is 7pm. Nap around 12-2 if we are lucky! Naps better at home than at nursery. Gets up anytime from 5am.
So I tried it this morning. Roused at 430am. Not sure if I did enough but she shuffled a bit. Hallelujah she woke at 630!
Fluke or a wake to sleep success?
Gonna try it again tonight ??

Ps I do put her down for a morning nap if we are at home - around 9am for an hour or so

How was it last night, Chickz? I'm thinking of trying it...

Chickz · 18/01/2015 16:40

More success! I roused her at 430am just enough to make her shuffle around. And she woke at 635am. Surely this can't be another fluke. Gonna do same tonight.
I'd give it a go Lucylooo. Good luck.

It sounds hopeful!

I did this with DS for day time naps and managed to increase his nap from 40mins to 2-3 hours.

Did you try Lucylooo? I stirred dd again at 430am and she woke at 610am. Not as good as previous nights but dh and I agreed that anytime after 6am is acceptable.
