Are these all they are cracked up to be? I am willing to try anything at the minute. My 4montg old ds just won't stay asleep and when he wakes up almost hourly needs cuddled and in at breaking point!! Also can it be used for naps as he is rubbish at napping if not being cuddled!!

We've used ours religiously (DS now 16months) - it's really hard to say whether it's made a big difference, but I'm not willing to try without! When things improve it tends to be part of an accumulation of things. We use it for naps and nighttime and put it on in the night if he's unsettled.
We use two feet - the same one for every nap and the same for bedtime/night waking

We have one and it helps dd go to sleep, however I think it works because over time you create an association between the music and sleep. It isn't an instant miracle cure.

FATEdestiny · 13/01/2015 12:08

Some people swear by them.

Personally I think if you make sure baby has a very full tummy and give him a dummy, he will sleep without any fuss.

How's his feeding?

Waggamamma · 13/01/2015 12:23

I have a 4month old. I use it for naps, it works great - put it on, give him a cuddle, asleep in less than 5mins and I can put him in hus crib. We've used it since birth though so he probably already associates it with sleep.

HoggleHoggle · 13/01/2015 12:26

I used it in the early weeks and months in the middle of the night to calm ds but not otherwise. Stopped altogether by 3 months as by then he was getting himself to sleep after night feeds. I think it's worth giving a go.

Yes. White noise in the early months, music now.
But I used a white noise and lullaby app on the iPhone for a week first before shelling out. I think it was called "sleepy sounds". I also used it out and about in the pram.

nutellawithbananas · 13/01/2015 12:30

Mixed feedback here - I don't think it actively helped DD go to sleep, but over time its become associated as a signal for bedtime and sleep time.
I only ever use the front right leg (the harp tune) and it has a very good effect on putting me to sleep!!!

cuphat · 13/01/2015 12:35

It was magical with DD. If she stirred we'd turn it on and she would go straight back off to sleep (before she could get herself off to sleep). She still sleeps with it now at 19 months, she loves it.

EssexGirlLottie · 13/01/2015 20:26

We love ours -lullaby for bath routine and getting ready for naps and white noise for sleeping. At 5mo, I am thinking of weaning our DS off it though since its a prop and if he wakes in the night, he can't obviously turn it on himself! However, if I was at breaking point, I'd be willing to try it :-)

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 13/01/2015 20:30

We still use ours at 14 months. Sometimes when she wakes up in the night I can get away with going in and switching him back on and she will go back to sleep. Keep thinking we should try to wean her off it as we have DC2 coming in July and I don't want to buy another, but don't dare try yet!

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 13/01/2015 20:35

Just after writing that post she woke up and cried (teething)... went in and switched Ewan on and fingers crossed she's gone back to sleep.

cuphat · 13/01/2015 21:16

We have DC2 due in May and we're buying another as sheepy is one of DD's favourite soft toys - there's no way we could take him off her!

caravela · 14/01/2015 05:36

My 2 month old dd finds Ewen incredibly stimulating - it has exactly the opposite effect from what it's meant to. When he's on she lies there smiling at him or panting with excitement, and then eventually gets overstimulated and starts to cry. However I'm glad we got him because it's very useful for buying me time to get myself ready in the morning!
