Two year old wide awake during the night

This is happening most nights now . I have two exams today and I've had about 3 hours sleep I need to get this sorted Sad

He's always been a very unpredictable sleeper . It's a hit or a miss putting him to bed at night whether he is going to go to bed and stay in bed or whether he's going to get up and down 100 times before he falls asleep .

I took his nap away at the summer because when he sleeps during the day he doesn't go down at night until about 11pm .

However this means that sometimes he wants to fall asleep at 5pm and sometimes he does fall asleep at this time .

And recently he's been waking during the night more and more often to the point now it's every night from about 1.30-2.30am until about 5-6am

I really have tried to get him into a good routine but I just can't seem to do it Sad it's really getting me down I end up spending over an hour putting him back into bed at night only for him to be up for hours again during the night Sad

I need sleep Sad

Have you tried a gro clock? It worked wonders for my 2.5 year old.
Is he still in a cot or is he in a bed? What's his bedtime routine?

What's a gro clock ? He's in a bed in a room with his sister . Bath/shower milk bed with a story .

You set it to a certain time in the morning as at that time the "sun comes up" and the star goes to bed. When our DS wakes in the night now we just say "look the sun hasn't come up yet, time for sleep" and make sure to make a big deal of how exciting it is when the sun does come up. I didn't think it would work for a moment but it been fantastic - just read the amazon reviews!
