Co-sleeping...transition to cot

Hi All,

My 8 month old dd has never been a good sleeper and from about 8 weeks has co slept with us, it was the only way any of us would get any sleep.

I have tried putting her into her cot and she just scream and cries, even if myself or dh are sat next to the cot stroking her etc. We are at a loss as to what to do. Even though co sleeping we get some sleep, it is not ideal.

Any advice? Have read a little bit about cc but not sure about.

Tia

How does she settle when co sleeping? Cuddled? Lying beside you? Could you try to recreate what you do in bed with her in cot? Or have cot right beside your bed to start so she still sleep close to you? Warming cot before she gets in?
Will try to have a think of anything else, we had this with DD1 at a younger age and it took a combination of lots of little things to get her in!

We did this when DD was 10mo and sat next to the cot with a hand on her chest at bedtime. We still brought her in with us during the night until 18mo ish. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, do you need to do it now or can you wait til she is a bit bigger? It seemed like dd was ready when we did it, was probably luck though!
