It's not a self-soothing tip (personally think trying to push self settling is counter productive), but white noise always helped my ds sleep, as well as sleeping next to me in a sidecar cot. Also having a consistent bedtime run up, after 6 months, whatever fits in for you whether it's short or long.

Watching with interest. My 17 month old always went down beautifully,no dummy or anything but just the last couple of weeks doesn't want to be on her own& criesnwhen she goes down. I don't know anything that really helps, maybe same routine & music?

I've never used the technique to be honest, just wondered how people do it when they put baby/tot in a cot for a nap while still awake, or at bedtime etc. No dummy or cuddles or milk.
