1yo waking at 5am

Ds has slept through since he was little but for the past 3 weeks has woken between 4 and 5am every night.
He was poorly with a cough when it started but is now fine.
When he wakes he is very very upset and cries and flails about. He settles for every other sleep no bother at all.
We have been giving him a bottle and he goes straight off again but obviously this is not solving the problem.
He will not be comforted with a cuddle or anything else.
Any ideas?

It's got a lot colder at night these last three weeks.

Try putting some socks on him at night and adding an extra blanket. Add a long sleeved vest under his sleepsuit/PJs.

We are having exactly the same problem after a cough, he wakes around 3.30-4 however for us settling him is impossible, we have tried milk, patting and everything else we can think of, it takes an hour and half before he gives in exhausted. We have decided to co-sleep for a couple of nights to see if we can break the cycle for him.

Have you thought about setting an alarm for 3am and giving him a small dreamfeed to see if that breaks the cycle for you? We did that a couple of months ago and then just made the feed smaller and smaller til we cut it out again entirely.
DS has been in a warmer sleeping bag so I don't think he is cold. Will be interested if anyone has an answer for this!

Thanks for replies. I've upped his bottle at bedtime and put a ls vest under his pjs tonight. Wish us luck.
I was wondering about a dream feed as well. Hmm.
