Night terrors?

Dd is 2.8. She sometimes (maybe a couple of times a month) will have these episodes where she wakes up, but is inconsolable, proper screaming- usually for about 10- 20 mins. She sometimes arches her back while screaming or reaches out but is kind of rigid at the same time. Like she's reaching for something but can't grasp it iyswim... There is no reasoning with her during, and the usual offer of coming to sleep in mummy bed for a while doesn't work either. It's almost like she's not hearing or really understanding anything. Is this a night terror? Should I worry? They are pretty grim, though she doesn't seem any the worse for them. Any advice from those of you who have been there?

Ds was like that. He didn't seem to know who we were. If we could put. A light on or somehow get him out of that state then he'd calm down or so etimes he just went back to sleep eventually. The thing to remember is night terrors are when they are still sleeping so they're not aware how utterly terrifying it all looks to you. Either try to wake a bit or try to rock or cuddle into a deeper sleep. I'm not sure really what works as we never knew what to do! He's nearly 5 now and hasn't had one for a long time though.
