9 month old standing in cot

Someone please tell me this is a phase!

Ds used to go down ok for his morning nap in his cot. I used to be able to put him down and walk out. He would grizzle / moan a bit but within 10 minutes was asleep.

Now he has discovered he can stand up and peer over the cot all of a sudden he is not sleepy and wide awake. I don't think hewill just gget down and go to sleep.

Has anyone else had this? If I try to settle him by holding him / shushing etc he immediately rolls over and tries to stand. It is impossible for get him to sleep now!

Yes yes yes. It's a phase as it's a novelty for them.

Dd used to do this. Everyone would tell me that she'd wear herself out eventually, she didn't. Just got more wired and overtired, so more standing. No crying, but no sleeping.

Eventually dh went in and lay her down and almost held her bum down and rubbed her back. Went off like a light.

Only lasted a few days. But they were hard. Get a gin.

Sometimes it's all quiet and I think he's asleep, creep in to fix his blanket and he's just grinning up at me! I used to do a lot of pram naps but am trying to work on the cot ready for the winter

Oh I know that well! Dd still does that (12mths) I went it last night and she was sat up and immediately started playing hidey/boo with her comforter when I went in to sort the blanket. Little menaces.

DS def did this - he's a natural born sleeper though so as a phased it passed pretty quickly.
I would say that if he's quiet, then he's probably enjoying the down time so stay out that room!

Yeah, DS has discovered this. It's hilarious when you go get him in the morning and he's just standing there but not so fun in the night.

I've already moved the cot base down once, should I be moving it again?

We're moving it down to the very bottom one at the weekend. I don't think he could actually climb out, especially in sleepsuit or sleeping bag but I don't feel I can leave him to do his whingey cry for a bit to see if he goes to sleep because I'm worried he might just manage it.

Yeah, we thought it could wait until the weekend so hopefully he won't escape before then.
