Dd 23 weeks old will not sleep!

He will go down around 7pm and then wake around 11pm and then that is it...awake on and off all night until 5.30 when we get up. He cries and whinges and will have 10-20 min naps. Ive tried our bed, his moses basket, cot even when i pick him up to comfort him it does not help.

I have been to the doctors numerous times, was there the end of last week, and they say everything is fine and thats it!

Please...any advice...is it ok to leave him to cry at his age? Not sure what else to do

Tia

I really feel for you. Sleep deprivation is so hard.

Have you tried a dose of Nurofen when he wakes at 11? Just to rule out teething or some other discomfort.

At his age I think you can leave him to cry for a short while, especially if it is more whingy rather than full-on distress. With my DDs I used to go in, say "sshh it is sleeping time now", give them a dummy and their comforter then leave the room. If they were really upset I would sit on the floor next to the cot with my arm through the bars (and I have fallen asleep like that).

I am sure others will come along with more ideas.

My 15 week old ds is exactexactly the same sleeps 7-11/12 then awake every hour until 5 when I give up. He is teething- would calpol at first wake up help? He's not interested in food and settles fairly quickly back to sleep with dummy and white noise but something is waking him up. I'm shattered Sad
