8 month old waking at 4-5am

I am currently trying teach my DD to self soothe through a form of cc but with lots of patting and stroking which seems to work at times (I've tried the no cry sleep solution which was a complete failure and I could no longer rock as was taking 30/40 mins and she is so heavy!!).

Problem I'm having is that between 4-5 she wakes for a feed and is obviously still tired but absolutely will not go back to sleep, she just wants to get up and play but then looks shattered, rubbing eyes and falling all over the place with tiredness.

Recently I've tried getting her up changing her nappy and putting her into the buggy and she goes straight back off again.

Am I ruining what I'm slowly achieving with the cc/self soothing by doing this or is it ok to do it with the hope she might soon learn to stay asleep beyond this time?

Anyone else have any experience of this please?!

My 8 month old generally wakes between 4 and 5 am (it's rubbish!). I have decided to just go with it, as he's a good napper, and will be down for a nap two hours later. My friend with a baby the same age found that he suddenly started linking his first nap of the day onto the end of his night sleep. I'm hoping / assuming mine will do that too, in his own time!

My dd did this at 6 mo and I am steeling myself for my ds to do the same. What helped was pushing her morning nap back. It is painful but don't let them nap until 9am and gradually push it until 9.15 and 9.30 eventually. It was difficult to jeep her going after a mega early wake up but it reset her body clock after a few days.
