Hi I have 6 week old and 3 year old little boys. My 6 week old was sleeping really well overnight and only waking for feeds then settling back to sleep. Around 3 weeks he begin to have silent reflux and was prescribed gaviscon which sorted the reflux out but then have him awful constipation so I gave him lactulose which helped abit. Since this has happened he has started waking at 3/4am and not settling very well waking every hour till 7am. He is on a routine so he has set naps and feeds so isn't having too much sleep in the day so you would think he would sleep well? Last night his stomach was growling really loud which makes me think he's in pain? I can't work out if this habitual waking or just pain :-( I don't think it's hunger as he isn't showing signs and plus he was feeding a lot later previously. We are so tired and I'm not able to catch up on my sleep as my 3 year old has dropped his naps, the lack of sleep is awful Sad anyone got any advice I would so grateful.

P.s I've also just brought c&g anti reflux formula so I'm hoping if this works I can drop the gaviscon and lactulose as I'm wondering if this could be cause for night waking as that's the only thing that's changed!

Personally I think sleep begats sleep and overtiredness in the day leads to a really unsettled night.

At six weeks old I was putting dd back down for a sleep 60 / 90mins after she last woke. We were really routine led too but it included lots of sleep.

What is his daytime routine? Does it include enough milk so he can fill up during the daytime?

There is a growth spurt at 6 weeks so could be hungry?

Routine - feeds 7am 10:30am 2pm 5/6pm 10pm and whenever he wakes up for a feed.
Naps 9-10am, 11:30-2ishpm, 4-5pm, 7-10pm, 11pm-7am

Maybe he needs more sleep then never really thought about that!
Yes growth spurt I thought but he isn't drinking more andvsleeping less thought they would drink more milk.
Thankyou for your replies Smile
