Anyone done gradual retreat and found 2nd night worse than the first?
Dd was asleep in 40 mins last night but we're almost on one hour already tonight and still going. Any tips? She did so well last night an today for her nap

How old is your dd? When I last tried gradual retreat with mine she was 17 months and yes the second and third night was worse and she would still wake several times in the night. I never really stuck to it though so I didn't really see any improvements but I'm starting it again as of today, she's 20 months and just took 90 minutes to go to sleep Sad but I hope she might go a bit quicker tonight.
Hope your dd settled last night Smile

Dd is 7.5 months. First night took 45 mins, 2nd night after 1.5 hrs we took a break brought her back downstairs for a while to calm down and try and forget about going to sleep then tried again 40 mins later and she fell asleep in 15 mins utterly exhausted :(
3rd night still loads of screamy, teary crying but fell asleep in 40 mins. She woke up 35 mins later and took another 20 mins to go to sleep.

Reason we're trying to teach self settling is because I can't manage to rock her to sleep every time she needs a nap, she's just too heavy.
Having seen her settle herself so well for naps I know she can do it
