Moving a toddler into a cot

Hello

I just wondered if anyone has had his experience?

My little boy is now two. I always planned to keep him in a cot for as long as possible. However... He has started trying to climb out of his cot and has been able to do this at my Mum's house so I felt it wasn't safe to keep him in it. He has also been recently potty trained and has a habit of removing his nappy and then obviously can't get to the potty.

Since we have moved him into the bed (only a few days) he has been getting off to sleep v well but has been waking in the night, coming into my room for a brief cuddle and then asking me to take him back to bed- this I can live with! He then however gets up at 5am when he insists on "playing trains"!

He had always been a super sleeper and I know he needs a lot of sleep to be happy in the day (as do I). I'm just wondering if this is a phase or if anyone has any tips please?

Hi!

I had the same problem with my little girl...once they are able to climb on the cot that's an indicated they need their own space. You need to be strict with him and I know how hard it can be. I sat down and explained to my little on that it's importance that she sleeps and night time is for sleep.

It took a couple of weeks for her to adjust into bed. It's a hard process but one that will happen naturally. Remember to stay calm and don't get annoyed with him. Here is a cute little blog post on moving them from cot to a bed. I hope he is ok hellobabyblog.co.uk/top-tips-moving-child-cot-bed/ and he will get the hang of being in a new bed! xx
