My DD is 22.5 months and has always been a fairly good sleeper (an early riser, but good otherwise). Her bedtime is 7 but has been taking an hour to go to sleep just talking to herself. This problem is now getting excessive and she is awake until 8,30-9, and still up early. I have fiddled around with her nap, even cutting it to 45 minutes or trying earlier in the day, but nothing is making a difference. She is not getting enough sleep and is rubbing her eyes all day. This seems worse during the week when she is at her childminders in the day.

Does anyone have any advice or experience? I'm trying not to stress but I really want her to get enough sleep and be asleep earlier in the evening. She is still awake tonight.

This happened to a friend of mine, and she dropped the nap completely. It took a few nights to kick in and a few weeks of early bedtimes, but it worked. Hth
