when they wake from a nap still tired...

DS is 13 weeks old. He is a good enough night time sleeper, usually waking a couple of times a night for a feed. Naps are our problems he will only take 45 mins and wakes from them too tired. It means he can then only stay awake such a short length of time (less than an hour) before needing to sleep again. It also means that I am struggling to get into a proper pattern with feeding. I try and feed every 2-3 hours, but this can sometimes be as he wakes up, or just as he is needing another nap depending upon how his naps have gone.

I am wondering what other people do when their LO catnaps…do you try and get them back to sleep? Also, does this get easier with age? Please say yes.

My DD is 7 months old and still nap dodging. She'll only sleep in the day whilst feeding and she doesn't sleep for long enough either. This = Pain in the bum baby!!

At 13 weeks they can't stay awake very long anyway. Can you walk in the buggy to get naps a bit longer? Dc3 is 7 months now and took ages to get into a daytime routine although the school run helped. She just woke up too soon a moment ago from her post lunch nap but I put her dummy in and a hand on her tummy and she went back off. Pure luck though!

My 15 week old is exactly the same. I do try and settle her again when she wakes after 45mins by giving her the dummy and shushing her with my hand on her. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But I do remember this stage with DD1 and it did pass and she became a brilliant sleeper!
