Controlled Crying for 5am wakings for 14 month ?

I started another thread on CC for 14 month old and now feel confident enough that it can work even though she is so headstrong and older. However, in your opinions, will it work for 5 am wakings ? DD slept though from 5-7 months and since has been waking anywhere between 4.30 -6aM each morning and now is used to having some milk .

I am going in the process of only giving 3ozs diluted, but problem is that she now uses the bottle as a dummy until the morning really starts.

I will be expecting # 3 in Feb and need to move DD in with her 3 year sister soon, and would really like to help her to sleep through till morning otherwise, we could have a whole household up at 5am as DD1 is terrrible when her sleep is disturbed or if she sees me go in to give a bottle and walk out again.

to combat early morning waking, I did take on advice of rushing in before she woke too much to give a bottle to help her stay asleep, but , alas, it has not broken the habit.

Please please any words of advice ? !

I would try to give her just water, no milk, don't turn on the lights, don't make a fuss. And take the bottle away. Perhaps even try to give her water in one of those non-spill cups.

Gradually give her less each couple of days.

good luck, cc is never easy or nice
