Anyone tried cot mattress toppers?

Nearly 2yo DD will not sleep in her own bed and we're wondering if part of it might be the mattress, which is quite firm (firmer than our DS' cot bed mattress). I've seen lamb skin/merino cot mattress toppers like this and they look really good I want one but also very pricey. Has anyone tried one? Did it help with sleep?

Used one for a travel cot which did have a really hard mattress and did help. It's was a John Lewis one.

Thanks for the tip, I just looked at JL and their matress enhances are very reasonably priced. I might give one a go and if it helps invest in the other one.

Mmmmm it might be because she is 2! Will she fall asleep if you sit with her?

AndHarry · 07/09/2014 21:06

For a while, an hour at most.

Has she always been a bad sleeper?

Is she warm enough in her bed?

AndHarry · 07/09/2014 21:16

Yes she's always been pretty bad. She's slept through once but is usually up 3-5 times in the night wanting a drink. I'm fairly sure she's warm enough. We use a gro egg to check the room temperature and dress her accordingly.

I doubt it's her bed that's causing the disturbed sleep, but Ikea do a quilted mattress topper for next to nothing. If she's been keeping you up that much you must be desperate, so in your shoes I'd try it. It makes a surprising difference to the sleeping surface.

I would ignore the gro egg and go with her body temp(I have two DC and they have different internal thermometers!)

My two were bad sleepers - they had good intolerances and reflux so slept badly until I tackled it. Mattresses made no difference (as much as I had hoped they would!!!)

*food not good.

Thanks everyone. I'll double-check her temperature tomorrow as she's currently snoring away gently next to me Hmm

I'll also have a look at the different toppers out there.
