5.5 mo - EVERY HALF AN HOUR

weelittlething · 07/09/2014 06:48

DD's woken up every half an hour tonight after what seemed like an improvement in her sleep. Won't feed, so couldn't even feed to sleep.

Exhausted.

Time for sleep training?

-Full sentences are currently beyond me.-

Does she always sleep badly?
Could she be teething?

Serendipity71 · 07/09/2014 07:38

Yes.. Every 30 minutes unmanageable for everyone. If you can afford a sleep consultant; we used Sian from www.sleepbabies.co.uk we just needed support but if you go in her website there is a case study you could follow.
Good Luck

She's either getting a cold or teething if she's not usually this bad. Did you try calpol last night?

BotBotticelli · 07/09/2014 17:18

Agree try calpol or nurofen if she does that again. Have you started weaning? Not a popular opinion on here but my LO's naps and nighttime sleep went up the spout when he was just 5mo and I introduced a bit of baby porridge and he calmed right down...in desperate circumstances might be worth a try. No one else in here will agree with me though.

weelittlething · 07/09/2014 19:18

Thanks everyone! Does Calpol help with colds at all? She's been super snotty all day so I'm thinking it actually might be that! I have just started weaning but not porridge yet as HV said no cow's milk before six months?

You can make porridge with breast milk or formula

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 07/09/2014 21:24

My colds always start with a sore throat and they can't tell you and you can't 'see' a sore throat. By the time my nose starts running my throat has usually hurt for 24-48 hours first iyswim? I can also get shivery and cold/ hot with a nasty cold. That's why I suggested a calpol. Obviously not every baby is like me Grin But I always feel if nothing else works calpol is worth a try. As they can't tell you how they feel at this age.

weelittlething · 07/09/2014 23:28

Thanks everyone! I will try Calpol - also tried to put some menthol rub on a muslin and tucked it into her mattress - hopefully it'll help the congestion!

I used to prop up the end they slept in if they were especially snotty. Poor things.

Littlef00t · 08/09/2014 21:08

I found an aspirator really good when dd nose was particularly snotty and congested.

My DD is the same age and just got her first teeth and has a cold. Had awful nights and she seems unsettled at points in the day too. It's really hard. I just hope it doesn't last. My DS's sleeping went to pot at six months.
