6month old night feed advice

Hello, my dd turned 6 months on Monday. She still has one feed over night (full bottle if formula), does she still need this? Everything I read says she shouldn't need a night feed at this age. She wakes at different times each night so I don't think it's habit but genuine hunger. We have started introducing solid foods which she loves and I will start to give her meat and complex carbohydrates soon. She is bottle and breast fed. I would like her not to need the feed as she is difficult to wind at night time at usually later gets troubled by bottom end wind which sometimes wakes her. Any thought?

I started cutting down ds's middle of the night feed from this age - gradually reduced it an ounce at a time over the period of a few weeks until he stopped waking for it (was 8 months when he stopped waking for it)

That's what I'm thinking if doing. How quickly did you reduce it? An ounce cry two or three days?

Sorry- typing on my phone .. Meant to read 'an ounce every two or three days?'

I was probably an ounce every week which is why it took ages

I'd just like to add that it's perfectly normal for a baby to still genuinely need a night feed at 6 months. My DS did, up til he was about 8 months old. I don't think he was physically capable of taking enough milk & food on board during the day to see him through the night before then (small baby, small appetite).

Thanks noisybrain she does seem genuinely hungry for the feed at night so very happy to continue. I keep reading that babies don't need night feeds at 6 months any more but reading posts on here from 'real' mums and dads it seems very normal which is good to know

I'm still feeding at night at 8 months, very normal. If it's not causing you problems then I wouldn't force the issue (I never go for 12 hours without food or drink, so don't want to force my baby to unless night feeding is disrupting her sleep too much)

If you're breast feeding you could try offering the breast instead? It's harder work than bottles so may reduce the amount they take.

It is normal though. Mine night fed until 10 and 14 m. I just figured it was easier to get up and do a quick feed than mess around trying to persuade them not to!
