Anything worked for early morning waking?

Hi

My DS2 is 7..5 months old. He has a dummy for sleep. He goes asleep with his dummy in his own room alone at 7pm ish. He will sometimes wake up once or twice and will accept his dummy an ago back asleep. However once 5am hits and he wakes up he will not go back asleep!

I have tried holding out his first nap and I don't let him sleep until 09:30 (needless to say from 8am on he is like a demon!). This worked for DS1 who was also an early waker but Ive been doing this for about 2 months and it is making no difference. Ive played with the time I put him down and that has nt made any difference either.

I am thinking about taking away the dummy and letting him cry it out as I don't know what else I can do. I went back to work this week and just can't stand the sleeplessness.

PLEASE if anyone has had an experience of tackling early morning waking with success give me advice - would you CIO or is there anything else I can do?

Thanks!!!!

Google wake to sleep method

However this will only work if your lo is still tired on waking. If he is up and raring to go then you have an early riser and you will need to start going to bed earlier!

Thanks for your response dance mom. I had heard of that technique before but didn't realize it could be used for early waking. He often wakes up 40 minutes before real wakey time but goes down with his dummy again so wondering if it will have an effect. I will try anything before CIO so will look into it more and figure out what time I should use it. I hate the idea of accepting 5am wake ups for the next 2-3 years but I have heard that there are sometimes no solutions Confused.
