Am I mean?!

My 5 month old has started waking at night any time between 2 and 5. He had been sleeping through. When he wakes he doesn't cry, just lies there chatting to himself and giving himself tummy time! He eventually about half an hour later goes back asleep.

Am I mean for just leaving him to play? Should I offer him a feed? I figure if he isn't asking for it then he is not hungry, but then also feel that something must have woken him!! I'm wondering if his teeth are bothering him and waking him as two have just popped through.

Any one else experiencing something similar?

Good grief, if he's content chatting away, leave him to it. Don't give him ideas about feeds in the night if he doesn't have one. Just go back to sleep. He may just have come to the end of his sleep cycle.

Sorry if that sounded sniffy, it wasn't meant to. I just had a baby who was definitely still having feeds at night then, so I'd have grabbed the chance to stay in bed and do no night feeds with both hands.

It's really common to have this sort of sleep regression at 4/5 months.

You're incredibly lucky, mine cried from 2am-4am every night for three weeks!!

Leave him to it if he's happy, he'll settle down soon enough!

My 6 month old does this - we do the same, just leave him to self settle unless he cries.
