What am I doing wrong?

My first baby was such a nightmare. Cried all day and night. Never slept and got into an overtired frenzy.

My second is turning out to be just the same. She is twelve days old and will not sleep. No amount of rocking or white noise or anything will get her to sleep.

I don't know where I've gone wrong. But it must be me and something I'm doing. No one could be this unlucky twice. I am so miserable and have no idea what to do.

It is probably them. Sleep could easily have a genetic component. Don't beat yourself up.

Have you tried the usual- sling, car, pram?

A friend of mine had two really bad sleepers and she is one of the most sensible, organized, caring people I know so I'm sure it's nothing that she was doing, just bad luck. Hope things get better and you have some help and support.

You're not alone! My first son was a nightmare sleeper from day 1. He's only ok now because he co-sleeps with his dad whilst I sleep in the other bedroom with his little brother! My second DS (20 weeks old) got my hopes up in the first 3 months but turns out he's horrendous too! I'm currently getting about 3 hours a night. I feed him, put him down and he's awake within about 20 minutes. It's soul destroying! It just doesn't seem fair to get two non sleepers does it. We tried all sorts with my first but nothing worked and I got so sick of trying to fix it, so now we just do whatever gets us the most sleep. I hope to share a bed with my husband again at some point! Hang in there, we can get through it! and if you find any magic solution please let me know!

Have you tried a dummy?

How are you feeding? Could it be an allergy/intolerance?

I don't think it's anything you're doing/not doing. Just luck of the draw!
Dc's #1&2 were fantastic sleepers, going 8+ hours straight from 3 and 5 weeks old. I have always done the same things with dc 3 and she still doesn't manage anywhere near that at 18 months. In fact the last few weeks have gone further downhill!
