Does he need to come out of a cot? We went for a cot bed and I am Pleased we did as I don't want to move my almost 2yo dd for quite some time.

If he climbs out then maybe. Otherwise I would be inclined to leave it for a wee while. You could always think about it again at Christmas if you think he would like it

Dd1 stayed in the cot until we needed it for dd2 - she was just over three when she moved into a bed!

Our reasoning was a) she still fit in it and b) I didn't want her roaming about without me knowing as I was usually asleep until she hollered

I've just moved my 21 month old because he was climbing out complete with sleeping bag on FFS. Believe me. It's easier not to.

Leave until you absolutely must. There's no need unless they climb out, or you need the cot for another baby.

We've just moved DS, he's one next week. Purely because we need the cot in December and didn't want him to feel like he was being kicked out of his bed.

He's really good, we've got a bed guard and he doesn't try to climb out, I'm hoping that when he gets to the age of trying to climb out it won't be a novelty because he'll have been in it for a while so won't be a new thing iyswim.

He also wakes up really noisily so I can get to him before he tries to at the minute. He just stands up holding onto guard waiting. He's a good boy really Grin

We did it at 21 months partly due to climbing out and partly due to him having never slept through the night so thought it might help. It did he slept through the night from day 2Grin
Also if he does wake I can fit in his single bed and just lie there until he drops back offGrin
