From 5ish months (in June) he started doing this despite clearly being tired. I think it is because it is too hot here in the Med. When we stayed in England for 2 wks recently, he had no problem at all, just rolled over and went to sleep most nights. Back to this hot country again and he's really upset when going in the cot at night. It's most likely the heat, so will get a fan just in case, but any other ideas/suggestions are very welcome.
