Advice on moving 13 week old into cot bed

My dd is quickly outgrowing her moses basket so for the past week I have been putting her down for all her naps and night time sleeps in her moses basket inside of her cot bed in her own room. I know the advice is to keep them in your room until 6 months but this isn't possible as her cot bed is huge and won't fit in our room. We also use an Angelcare monitor with the movement mat so this makes us a little more confident about moving her into her own room.

Anyway for the past week things have gone brilliantly and she has been going to sleep fine in her nursery. We have the same bath, book and bottle routine each evening and by the time I put her down at about 6.30 she drifts off to sleep herself with minimal soothing within 5-10 minutes. The room is much cooler and darker than ours so her sleeping patterns have improved tremendously and she now sleeps from 6.30pm until 6.30am with one night feed around 2am, but I now want to take away the moses basket and put her straight into the cot bed. Can anyone offer any advice on how to do this? Should we just take away the basket tonight and put her down on the mattress? She has an Izziwotnot cot bed with over the top changer and it currently has a cot bumper at the other end. Should I remove this and use this as the foot of the cot and place her feet at this end? Finally she is currently sleeping in a lightweight baby grow with just a sleeping bag (2.5 tog) for bedding. Is this going to be ok in the cot bed too? The room is around 17/18 degrees most evenings. Sorry for all the questions but I'm a first time Mum and want to make sure we get this right :)

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions x

I put the Moses basket in the cot for a couple of nights and then put my DS straight in the cot on night three.

Thanks. Did you put anything in the cot like a divider or rolled up towel to make it appear smaller or was your DS fine with the transition into the bigger space?

I just put both of mine straight in, I think for safety you're not meant to have anything in there that's not strictly necessary.

I didn't put anything extra in the cot, he did look really tiny though Smile

Thanks everyone. Will be giving it a go in the 'big girls bed' tonight! :)

I don't understand these threads why would you go against SIDS advice? You can buy 3/4 size cots from kiddicare I would suggest buying one of those or a small travel cot with a proper mattress and removing a wardrobe or other furniture out of your room.

Hope it goes well tonight OP!
We moved DS into his cotbed at 8 weeks and he was totally fine with it. I did buy mesh bumpers as he liked to be up against the sides and sometimes his arm fell out.
He is happy in his 2.5 tog sleeping bag and sleepsuit. We don't have anything else in with him as he wriggles all around!
We also found the Angelcare monitor comforting when he started to roll onto his front to sleep.
It sounds like you're doing great Grin
