Dropping The Nap

With a very heavy heart I think it might finally be time to drop my 2 yr olds nap :(
How do I go about it - do I bring bedtime earlier for the first couple of days or leave everything the same?
I should add I'm dropping the nap in a final desperate attempt to stop her getting up during the night and to try and get her to sleep later than her usual 4.45-5.30am...
Tips and advice greatly appreciated!

Mine was about 2 when he dropped his nap. It wasn't a conscious decision as such, just it was getting a pain to go to sleep after lunch so I left it. I just made sure that we didn't have any car or buggy journeys late in the afternoon because if he slept at 4 or 5 would have turned bedtime into a nightmare. He still sleeps sometimes during the day though, every fourth or fifth day. He's 2.5 now.
What I'm kind of regretting is to install quiet time as a replacement so I would still get 30 mins and a cuppa in peace after lunch.
