4 month old naps, help!

My 18 week old has started refusing to nap in the day! We had him napping well in his cot about 3 times a day. He's never been a brilliant mapper ( catnaps about 45 mins). But he could sometimes (not always) self settle and rarely fought. Now it is taking me nearly an hour of fighting (pick up, shush, rock, and repeat) to get him down. In desperation I've tried feeding him to sleep which used to work but now he just screams the instant I put him in the cot. I've also gone back to letting him sleep in the sling just to get some daytime sleep into him, else he is just so miserable and cranky. But we can't do this forever!

His nighttime sleep is fine, he goes to bed at 8.30 has a 3 am feed and then wakes at 7.

Can the 4 month sleep regression just affect naps? Or could something else be going on?

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am sick of spending my days with an overtired baby and want my happy chap back!

My DD at 19 weeks is the same- and sadly her night sleep is horrific too!
