Day time sleep

Can anyone suggest ways to get my 5 week old to sleep in her carry cot or cot during the day? She will sleep in her cot at night but only wants to sleep on me or dad during the day. We've tried just letting her cry to see if she will settle but she just cries the whole time so doesn't get any sleep which adversely affects her night time sleep as she gets over tired. Any advice gratefully received thanks.

I spent a weekend just in the bedroom putting lo in the cot to play as well as for naps so he got use to the room. Before that I had put him in the cot and either let him suck my finger. Or just have my arm / hand near him.

Mine didn't fall asleep with cuddles though so not sure if it would work for you.

(of course things like having the room the same temp as at night, same light level could help it feel the same as the evening.)

Wait. Sorry... But she is only 5 weeks old. Mine was exactly the same, and being my first child I felt like I ought to be getting some kind of "routine" by 5 weeks. It was this time of year, too, and often we were both so hot and I remember being stressed that we wold both be cooler if we just cold sleep separately!

By about 9 weeks everything was different and dd slept happily in her cot and/or bouncy chair.

Thanks. I did wonder if I was expecting too much too young but she's so good at going down at night I thought she would be ok during day too and I just need some time hands free to do the chores. She likes to be in her sling but of course you can't do everything wearing that.
