Stopping breastfeeding and insomnia

Hi,

I just wanted to know if anyone else has had problems with sleeping since stopping breastfeeding? I stopped at the beg of July and although physically and mentally exhausted I am struggling to sleep. This has caused me to become very low in mood, the doctor has prescribed me anti depressants but I know that I am not depressed and do not want to take them. I've also been given sleeping pills but again am very anti these as I know its not going to solve the root of the problem. I've done a bit of research and have found that after stopping breastfeeding your estrogen levels plummet ad this is linked to insomnia. If there is anyone that has had this and found a solution I would love to hear from you as am in a stressful place at the moment that I am desperate to drag myself out of.

Hi, did you ever get an answer to this.i haven’t slept since 2014 and the drs have been of little to no help help. I always slept 7-8hrs solidly and since stopping breastfeeding in 2014 I am anywhere from 2-5 he’s of broken sleep. I only got thinking about the hormonal changes after seeing a program about peri menauouase hormone changes causing insomnia. So run down now too as a result......I had a few weeks in major pain and dr prescribed meds that out me to sleep for 7hrs a night and even fell asleep standing up....yet go talk to them about insomnia and get told to relax, download an ap etc!
