Have no daytime routine with dd who is 10 weeks. She seems to knothe diff betw night and day though - still wakes every 2.5-3 hrs betw BF at night. I'm a bit worried as she seems to have been asleep most of today - tried waking her and she's not having any of it. Do you think this means we're in for a rough night? I know you can't really answer this but just wondering if I should try harder to wake her....

in my experience, the better and more sleep dd has during the day the better she slept on a night. When she was new born, i used to panic if she slept too much during the day, but no matter how much sleep whe had in the day, she always slept well in the night, in fact she used to have a nap for about 30mins from 5.30-5.45 till about 6.15 and still go to sleep at 7pm! She has always been a good sleeper however, so my advice would be to see what happens and if she wants to sleep during the day, let her! Good luck

Hi,

I have a daughter just coming up to 6 weeks old and it has only been the past few days that she has been sleeping alot more in the day. Whereas before she was not sleeping for long stretches of time so am a bit worried especially as she has the snuffles. Do you think this could be why she is sleeping so much.
She is not sleeping too badly in the night, although last night was the first time she woke up by herself for the 10pm feed, usually we have to wake her for this one and then again she woke at 12.50am and settled just after being given some water and slept until 6.50am. She seems to be sleeping alot on her feeds too and not taking them all at once.
Please help
First time mum not knowing too much

cant give much advice I am afraid, but if she slept from 12.50 till 6 ish I think thats wonderful for a 6 week old baby!
Snuffles are usual at about 6 weeks i think its just her lungs clearing from being inside you- well thats what hv/mw told me when dd was 6 weeks old. My advice would be to not worry about it and go with the flow, I spent first 6 months of dd being neurotic about sleep and she was always great thru the night! enjoy these precious times. Maybe some other mnetters can be more helpful.
