Hi
Maybe a strange question, but my ds is now 9 weeks coming up to 10 weeks. He is usually awake at 6.30am and I feed him - we then pretty much feed every 3 - 4 hours and then he goes to bed at 6.30ish (wakes at 10/10/30pm for a feed and then perhaps with a feed in the night - not always, wakes for the day between 5.30ish and 6.30ish).
During the day he will stay awake after each waking for about an hour and 15 mins and is fairly happy for that time (including feeding time - he's bottle fed so feeding itself doesn't take much time after waking) - he'll then kick around on his playmat sometimes for 25 - 30 mins - sometimes more if very lucky . He then starts to grizzle.
If I pick him up he's not particularly comforted but I notice that the grizzling stars at about an hour and a quarter from waking - he'll only sleep then if he gets his dummy - All in all, he'll end up sleeping from 8.30am - 10ish - 11.30 - 2pm (on and off - he does the classic 45 minuter and needs getting back off to sleep and then perhaps longer if in the car seat) and then about 3.30 - 4.45pm - All these sleeps require the dummy in, I need to be around to pop it back in when he's in light sleep and are not a simple "pop him down and off he dozes"....Is this too much sleep ? He seems so grumpy otherwise and so far it doesn't seem to affect night sleep. Should I try to keep him awake longer and if so how? Will this sleep during the day business and dummy action get any better ! Otherwise he would fight sleep be really grumpy.
Thanks !!
