'mummy dinosaurs in walls'

Ok so a few months ago me and the hubby noticed my 3 year od was a bit hesitant to sleeping in his bed, then a week ago he started trying to get in to our bed (not with us more like a trade) saying he needed a big bed. Now, he's screaming and falling asleep in one of his drawers saying there are dinosaurs in his walls and in the clouds?!?!?! I honestly don't know where he's got it from he normally loves dinosaurs anyway and now they're scaring him in his room apparently. I thought at first he was just doing it to get toys, attention and just to stay awake but I'm getting sick of it been a battle with him. The dinosaurs seem to suddenly vanish if he gets what he wants so I don't think he's actually scared of his bed. Any advice?

Not sure if this is playing into things a bit but years ago my DB went through a "crocodiles swimming around the bed" phase at age 4 or so. DM put improvised muslin curtains around his bed (admittedly a bottom bunk so easily done) and assured him these would keep all wildlife out. Crocodiles were soon forgotten as he loved going to sleep in his "tent". Just a thought!

Decorate a spray bottle of water as dinosaur repellent and spray before bed?
